6694 Rolex overhaul with case and band restoration
This older 1215 Caliber movement needed no new parts as it was recently serviced 5 years ago. I just installed new Rolex gaskets, re-finished the case, band and crystal like new and de-oxidized the markers with a soft rubber eraser. The band repair was quite time consuming, but it literally looked like a new again without rounding any of the edges. It is VERY difficult to restore watch cases and bands so that it does not lower their value on the collector's market. Sometimes I will just hand polish the cases and bands if the owner just wants them as a collectors item. Sometimes I use an ultrasonic machine...usually I heat up 3% H202 and 3% ammonia to clean my cases and bands. Just don't try this at home though...you can de-plate a case or watchband within 10-15 minutes. I use this methode just on stainless and solid gold.
